You already know affiliate marketing is the easiest way to make money online. And it's very easy to learn and understand. However, there are also a few very common mistakes that can slash your profits down to the bone.

Today, you'll learn affiliate marketing mistakes that can be avoided very easily.

Affiliate Marketing Mistake #1:
Picking products based on how much you'll get paid.

The best tip I learned early on is to avoid selling products because "they pay a lot." Yes, you want to make a ton of money in affiliate marketing. We all do. How much you'll get paid is one of the items you need to think about but, don't get too excited by how much you'll make because you might be mad when it doesn't sell.

You'll learn to avoid this problem because you can do some research to make sure it never happens.

Yes, look at the commission amount, but think about other factors like a high-conversion rate, a proven history of success, an easy to use website and more importantly, your interest in the product.

The truth is, if you're super excited about a rock-solid, effective product, you've got a great chance to sell it because you're motivated to tell people about it – And that will show when you start writing a review or and advertisement.

Affiliate Marketing Mistake #2:
Signing up for low-paying commissions

Like I said, you've got to think about how much you'll get paid. Yes you should have an interest in the product your selling, but if the commission stinks and you can't make any real money...

Then toss it aside and go find another program that you'll be pumped up to sell AND that pays you very well.

It's the affiliate marketing balancing act that you'll have to learn. Understand all the good and bad points of each product and then make your decision if you'll sell it or not.

Besides, there are thousands of products for you to sell so you've got plenty to choose from.

Affiliate Marketing Mistake #3:
Joining too many affiliate programs

The person who joins the most affiliate programs does not win. In fact, you'll learn that joining 25 different affiliate programs is an accounting nightmare. Especially if you're still learning affiliate marketing. The truth is it's much much easier to learn affiliate marketing when you're just promoting one product.

Why? Focus.

Sticking with one program is great because it's all you'll think about selling. Imagine the perfect product for you...

You've learned everything about this killer product. You've used it, tested it and read another hundred reviews of it. Right now you're thinking about 3 new ways you can sell it with great success–You're obsessed with it!

With all that focus, passion and knowledge in your back pocket, you've got the perfect weapons to make a killing selling this product.

Now think about that product one more time...

And add a second product. Do you see how you immediately lost the passion for product #1? Learn to limit the number of affiliate programs you join because you'll aways stay focused.

You want my advice? Pick one product, learn everything about it, use it, and keep working at selling until you're making sales every day! That way you'll have one solid stream of cash that will only require a small amount of tweaking over the next few months. THEN, think about adding a second product and repeat the process.

Affiliate Marketing Mistake #4:
Not buying the product or using the service

You want to make as many sales as possible right? Of course you do. In order to do that, you've got to become an expert on whatever product you're selling. You've got to learn it inside and out because to sell it, you've got to tell people why it's great and why it will help them.

When you've learned everything about the product, you're able to really connect with other people who might be reading your advertisement or review.

Heck, maybe you discover a hidden feature or benefit that appeals to you. Chances are other people would love that feature as much as you do! The knowledge and experience you have with this product is incredibly valuable because you'll know how to push the juicy desire "hot buttons" that your customers won't be able to refuse.

Learn how to sell your products and speak to your customers. In fact, I fully recommend reading other reviews of the product you're promoting.

Why? Because you'll find new ways to describe the features and benefits that may lead to more sales.

For example, I've got a limited vocabulary. But, I'm able to overcome that because I'm constantly reading reviews and learning new and creative ways to write–As well as growing my vocabulary.

And I think you'll learn a lot by doing the same thing.

Affiliate Marketing Mistake #5:
Letting potential customers (and repeat customers) get away

By now you've learned that affiliate marketing is very simple, but it does take time. And you want to get the most (money) out of your time right? You bettcha!

So, you've sold some affiliate products (congratulations!), but you're looking to expand the business. Great idea. And you can start by reaching out and grabbing all of your previous customers by the neck!

Sounds terrible, but I just want to make a point. The people who have already purchased your product are an excellent group of people to hang on to. Why? Because there's a very good chance they'll buy from you again!

Think about it...

Joe buys the ebook you told him about and he loves it! It's the best darn ebook he's ever read and it was exactly what he needed. Now, you've instantly earned Joe's trust and if you tell Joe about another ebook you're selling, he'll be interested.

How do you do that? Add a newsletter sign up to your website and start collecting email addresses. Tell them about the product you're selling (make sure you include your affiliate link!)
